Don Schlitz death: Legendary country music songwriter, dies aged 73

Country Music Hall of Fame songwriter Don Schlitz, known for hits like “The Gambler” and “Forever and Ever, Amen,” passed away at the age of 73. Originally from North Carolina, Schlitz moved to Nashville with just $80 in his pocket at the age of 20. In 2022, he became the only non-artist songwriter to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
