Streaming is now the main way people watch TV

Viewership on streaming platforms surpassed cable and broadcast channels combined for the first time in May, accounting for 44.8 percent of all viewership. YouTube had the largest share of audience among streamers, while Disney led legacy media companies in streaming audience share. The trend reflects a shift in consumer habits and poses challenges for traditional media conglomerates facing cord-cutting and competition from tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Netflix.
