Disney Closes Deal Merging Hulu Live TV With Fubo

Disney has officially acquired Fubo, merging it with Hulu + Live TV to create the sixth-largest pay TV provider in the US. The two services will remain distinct but will be owned by Disney and operate within the same business unit, offering different packages to consumers. The acquisition faced antitrust scrutiny, with a lawsuit filed by Fubo against Disney over noncompetitive practices. With the deal now closed, Disney aims to provide diverse offerings to consumers while critics fear reduced competition in the market. Synergies are expected through cost savings and optimized advertising sales as a result of the merger.
