News from Nashville Blog by Becky D.
Hello, Gainesville. I am the newest member of 1037 The Gator and very honored to be able to share with you some of my thoughts about today’s country and the amazing artists within. This week’s discussion is about Sam Hunt and his new song. It features Hall of Famer Webb Pierce’s “There Stands the Glass” mixing old school country sounds with today. A chart topper from 1953. That is old school, indeed. Take a listen”
Sam said “I’ve wanted to sample an older country song from an older era for a while, and the songs just haven’t panned out or I haven’t had an idea to write with the samples that we’ve used,” Hunt explained, “I tried some samples from the ‘90’s cause that’s kind of the era of country music I grew up on, but it never seemed to quite work.”
Then he found this one. He stated, “For some reason, he continued, “when I heard this Webb Pierce sample for the first time, it clicked”
I believe this song is Sam’s next number one hit. What do you think? Give it a listen.
